GOALS
Physics
- Study three-dimensional acoustic resonance with acoustic transducers in a
rectangular box.
- Determine the proper placement of transducers for efficient
coupling.
Technique
- After doing preliminary calculations, place miniature speakers in the
positions to induce and measure the resonant field.
Errors
- Compare actual measured resonant frequencies to calculated
resonanaces.
Questions (Work out in lab book before coming to class)
- What effect would there be on the frequencies of a rectangular cavity
missing one wall?
- What effect would there be if individual walls were replaced with sound
absorbent material?
