Application Information -

Students are advised to apply for admission effective the fall quarter of a given year, although admission for winter and spring quarters is possible.

A number of fellowships are available for qualified students.

Applications may be obtained by filling out the application request form.

In order to facilitate the application process and to provide you with speciality information, we have a pre-application form available. Print the form locally, fill it in (please print) and fax it to the number on the form. Or, download the file, insert needed edit out of HTML and edit in your information and email form to dbomar@physics.ucsd.edu.

***Update*** The deadline has been extended to February 22, 1999. The deadline to submit the graduate application for the academic year 1999-2000 is February 22, 1999. The department should receive all required materials by February 22. Applicants whose files are complete by February 22st will be informed of the results of their application status no later than March 15. Incomplete files and applications received after February 22 will be considered only if space is available.

In addition to the official application form, official transcripts, three letters of recommendation, results of your Graduate Record Examination (GRE); general and advanced Physics scores are required. The GRE examinations must be taken no later than December in order for the scores to be considered by the admissions committee. GRE information for China, India, Korea and Taiwan. Foreign applicants whose native language is not English and whose undergraduate education was conducted in a language other than English are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
