Specific Heat

  • Principle Illustrated: Specific Heats of different materials

    Equal masses of aluminum, steel and lead are heated in boiling water. The hot masses are then placed on a slide 'blocked' by wax. The difference in the heat capacities are revealed by the differing lengths the masses melt out of the wax.
