HOMEWORK:
Homework will be assigned each week. It will not be collected for grading, and does not count towards the final grade. However, doing the homework will be extremely useful for understanding the material covered in lecture, and for doing well on the quizzes.
QUIZZES:
Fifty minute quizzes will be given every Friday for a total of eight quizzes. Quizzes will be closed book. Calculators are allowed. There will be no makeup for any quiz, for medical or other reasons. On the day of the first quiz, each of you will be assigned a 3-digit number. Record it in your notebook and keep it in a safe place. Thenceforth, you will enter this number on each quiz and exam, instead of your name. Quizzes will be returned at Warren Lecture Hall 2126. Recorded grades will be posted by code number in the glass cases located on the bulletin board by WLH 2126. Check your posted grade against that on your quiz to make sure your grade has been recorded correctly.
FINAL EXAM:
The final exam will be on Monday, December 7, 8:00 - 11:00 a.m., location to be announced. It will not be possible to take the exam early for any reason.
WHOM TO SEE:
The course coordinator if you have any questions about adding or dropping the course, or getting appropriate authorization for such actions. The grader if you have questions about how your quiz was graded. The teaching assistant if you have questions about the subject matter. The instructor if you have questions about the subject matter, or administrative problems.
ACADEMIC DISHONESTY:
Please read the UCSD Policy on Integrity of Scholarship, pages 71 - 74 of the 1998 - 1999 General Catalog. These rules will be rigidly enforced. For all quizzes/exams cheating includes: submitting another person’s work as your own for grade consideration, any alteration for reconsideration, copying from another student, and the use of any unauthorized materials during the exam.
