Grade
As stated in the syllabus your grade is 70% quizzes (best 6 of 8)
and 30% final + the extra credit.
The total points for the entire class
(before the extra credit) will be used to find a final
distribution. Each student will be assigned a grade at this
point.
The grade which corresponds to the mean depends upon how well
the class as a whole does on the final.
If the class does well on the final the mean will be the
border of a B/B+. If the class does not do so well then
the border will be a B-/B.
Depending on how many extra credits you did and how far you
are to the next highest grade--the extra credit can
boost you up.
For example, if you are at the bottom end of the B+ you needed
to have done all of the extra credit to get boosted up to an
A-. If you are in the middle of the B+ range then you only
needed to have done half of the extra credit, etc.
The Final
You must bring a picture I.D. and fresh blue book (i.e.
not one you have previously used for quizzes. The
blue book can have notes on the inside covers. You
may NOT tape anything in your blue book
or bring any lose pages nor write anywhere
except on the inside cover, before the start of the final.
The final will be cumalitive, covering the entire quarter.
At least 1/2 of the questions will be very similar to previous
quiz problems. (So study the quizzes.)
There will also definitely be questions on the material
covered in the last week of class (see
week 10).
